Bogatyr
An animated series rooted in Eastern European folklore.
The story behind the story
About

Christian Ervin Gross
Creator, writer & director of Bogatyr
Founder, CeG Moving Pix
Bogatyr is the creation of Christian Ervin Gross, a San Antonio filmmaker and the founder of CeG Moving Pix, an independent studio dedicated to hand-drawn 2D animation.
Christian’s background is in broadcast television and live-action film. A Full Sail University graduate, he has spent years directing live television and working on independent film sets in camera, electrical, sound and acting roles. That experience in the control room and on set shapes how he approaches every frame of Bogatyr.
The series draws on Eastern European folklore and on the stories that shaped him, from the hand-drawn films of the Disney Renaissance and Don Bluth to the worlds of C.S. Lewis and the animated series of the 1990s and early 2000s. At its heart, Bogatyr is a story about family, courage, heritage and hope.
As writer and director, Christian works with a small team of artists and storytellers to bring the series to life in traditional 2D animation.
